Whitby Abbey

Whitby Abbey is such an intriguing place. It is the inspiration for the original Bram Stoker’s Dracula Castle and the Church Yard near the Abbey is featured in the novel itself. Only the shell of the abbey remains, mostly ruins now but in past times it played a very important part of daily life. Owned by the National Trust there is a charge to enter the ruins and grounds. Partly turned into a museum that features artifacts found during excavations of  the Abbey grounds.

Thoughts on Waking

The autistic brain very rarely rests, lost in my own world imagination, the lights catch my eye and I stop and position myself until the lights all line up in an ordered way, even better when it’s complemented by the road markings disappearing into the distance following the same path as the light trail. I’m just lucky enough to be able to see and capture its beauty. The most beautiful thing in this image is the flood of the lighting disappearing into the night as it heads towards the ground.

Order and pattern is everywhere

Welcome to August at 05:20:31

There isn’t many sunrises I have missed this year since getting up at 5am to start the day. Apart from the very early ones pre-5am that is! It’s a wonderful time of day to wake up and get on with things, the world is largely still asleep, peaceful and quiet. I grabbed my camera, opened the kitchen window and caught the brief glimpse of the golden sky that began the 1st of August dawn of 2019. What a year, it’s gone so fast.

A very early glimpse of the 1st August 2019
